Disabled Railway Cards offer a third discount on train fares and are available to those suffering from a disability or progressive medical condition subject to certain eligibility criteria. These include receiving certain benefits or having certain disabilities.
On average, disabled rail card holders save around £113 a year, or £4.40 a book. You can purchase a railway card and keep it convenient with your mobile phone or wallet while traveling, report Lancs Live.
This means you can save money on most train tickets, including advance tickets. Railway cards are also valid for you and one adult companion. It costs £20 per year and £54 per three years.

How do I apply for a train card for disabled people online?
The National Rail website statement states, “Please click 'Buy Now' on the website homepage and follow the on-screen instructions. If you select “Digital” to check the proof of your fault online, you can select the “Favourite Rail Cards” section if you select “Digital”.
“Once your online payment is processed successfully, you will receive an application email confirmation and approval (this confirmation cannot be used to purchase discount tickets). Please allow up to five business days until the Railway Card application is reviewed and approved.
“If you purchase a plastic railway card, it will take 10 days for 5 business days plus 10 days for rail card application review. You can choose to pay for special delivery, but you must ensure that your railway card will be delivered on the 2nd (Monday to Thursday to Thursday) or 3rd (Friday to Sunday) by 3:45pm.
“If you purchase a digitally disabled rail card, it will be ready to use. The download code will be sent to your registered email address, along with instructions on how to download a rail card. Please also allow up to five business days until the rail card application is reviewed and approved.”
