The Alaska Airlines Group has set a date for the launch of Trans-Pacific flights between Seattle and Seoul as part of a broader international expansion plan made possible by Hawaiian Airlines' widebody jets.
A five-fold weekly flight to Seoul Incheon International Airport will begin on September 12 using Hawaiian Airbus A330-200 aircraft, Alaska said on March 25.
With the acquisition of Alaska Air Group's Hawaiian, completed last year, the company has provided its existing long-distance network from its new Honolulu hub.
Hawaiian's A330 and Boeing 787 now allow Alaska to pursue their first oral visit from Seattle.
The Seattle-to-Toiko service is scheduled to be released on May 12th.
Alaska calls the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport base “the largest airline hub on the West Coast” and features non-stop flights to 104 North American destinations. It assumes considerable domestic traffic flows into a growing long-distance network throughout the Pacific.
By 2030, Alaska is scheduled to fly from Seattle to “at least 12” international cities.
Hawaiian operates a 30 A330 and two 787-9s. The Honolulu-based carrier has another 10 orders.
