ACSA recovers up to 91 %
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has revealed that the peak travel period in 2024 has been very successful. The record shows a recovery of 91 % to the level of the patient and an increase in total passenger traffic 5 % year -on -year.
According to a statement, the ACSA processed 3 705 778 passengers in December 2024, and on the busiest day, 139 935 passengers were processed, recorded 1 139 air traffic movements.
The three major airports in South Africa, or Tambo International Airport (Ortia), Cape Town International Airport (CTIA), and King Shaka International Airport (KSIA) have also achieved traffic projections during that period.
Cape Town Airport has arrived with more than 500,000 people
Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) also recorded a 3 % increase from the previous year when the passengers arrived during this celebration.
With the arrival of 533 829, the numbers match the predicted growth and introduce a strong celebration season for travel to one of the top destinations in Africa.
What the numbers say
According to Cape Town Tourism, the numbers when broken seemed to be as follows:
International arrival: 160 537 (+3.7 %) Arrivals: 10 491 (+22.5 %) Domestic arrival: 362 222 (+2.3 %)
The most notable growth comes from the arrival of the region, which has rapidly increased by 22.5 %, emphasizing the appeal to nearby countries in Cape Town. International arrival at Cape Town Airport has increased by 3.7 %, but domestic travel, which accounts for the largest part of the number of passengers, has increased by 2.3 %.
