Airlines with the highest hidden rates are not Ryanair or EasyJet | Travel News | Travel

Putting a bargain flight in the bag makes going on the holidays even more enjoyable, knowing you've saved yourself money. However, even if you book your holiday in advance to guarantee cheaper flights, you can still be filled with hidden fees that increase the overall price.

Adding baggage, choosing a seat, and even managing fees could all be summed up, and a new survey found that one airline has a higher fee than other airlines. Financial site Tradingpedia compared the prices of flights from London to Rome on July 21 among major European airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling and Jet2, but it was Wizz Air that was found to be the most expensive overall when it comes to charging hidden fees.

Wizz Air tops the list of hidden fee airlines, and Tradingpedia discovered that the low-cost carriers charged a total of £222.75 against Add Ons.

The hidden fees include many additional costs, from seat selection to fees, to change the name of your booking. Some of them don't need to board a plane, but others often find it inevitable, especially if you wear the same socks on vacation and feel like you don't need to bring your bag with you.

TradingPedia was aware that some of the extra charges are not necessarily hidden, but they pointed out that they are rarely included in the headline prices you may be advertised for your flight.

Hidden fees added to Wizz Air Flight include:

Check bag £39.50£9.25 £28 for online booking £28 Check in at the airport

The total flight price has now reached £222.75. It's not just the price that you add baggage or choose a seat. Management fees are something many travelers may not even consider when it comes to the total cost of a flight, and are not an option. The fees added to the ticket price cover the costs of the airlines handling bookings, changes or cancellations. This costs £8.93 for the Wizz Air and £25 for the Ryanair.

Wizz Air had the highest hidden fees overall, but was slightly ahead of its competitors, including Ryanair and Vueling. Euronows also pointed out that Wizz Air is one of the few airlines that don't charge your baggage, and could make a big difference in flight prices.

Flying from London to Rome with Ryanair, the same additional service pays for £219.74 and baggage costs £25. The Vueling costs £211, but when I flew with EasyJet I returned £207.26, and the Jet2 charged £69.50, but the check bag costs £40.

A Wizz Air spokesman told The Express.co.uk: “We offer our customers a single, simple, transparent price, allowing them to explore destinations on their network starting at just £8.99.
