The airline first banned portable chargers after the huge plane fire.
Korean airline Air Busan has announced that gadgets will ban baggage. Many airlines ban check bags instead of carry-on.
The new rules were introduced after the January 28 fire torn 176 people on planes, and everyone had to evacuate.
“First-point action” means that passengers need to maintain portable chargers in people and bags under their seats, not overhead compartments.
The January 28 fire, believed to have been launched by a portable charger, attracted attention from flight attendants and ultimately destroyed the plane to the point of being repaired.
Lo Kok-Keung, a retired engineering professor at Hong Kong Institute of Technology, spoke to the South China Morning Post about the dangers of plane power banks.
He states: “Creating a short circuit creates high temperatures, burns internal materials, and fires that can burn clothes with luggage.”
Some airline rules prohibit checking packages by power banks. According to Ryanair, customers can carry up to two spare lithium-ion batteries in carry-on baggage, which needs to be protected individually to prevent short circuits.
Passengers are also warned not to attempt to retrieve their phone if they lose their phone to the side of their seat while flying, due to the risk of a fire. This happened on a 2017 United Airlines flight and a 2018 Delta flight.
Former pilot Patrick Smith said: A mechanism that controls the various positions of the seat.
Other prohibited items from flights include souvenirs such as breast milk, a hammock or box that expands the chair, medical equipment and medicines, toy weapons, and snow gloves.
