Regional breakdown – International passenger market
International RPK growth rate reached 6.7% in May compared to the previous year, with growth in all regions, but the combined load factor image increased by 0.2 ppt. Traffic expansion on most major international routes to the Americas was slower in May, except for a modest increase of 2.5% year-on-year.
Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region achieved a 13.3% increase in demand from the previous year. Capacity increased by 10.6% year-on-year, with a load factor of 84.0% (+2.0 PPT compared to May 2024).
European airlines increased 4.1% year-on-year. Capacity increased 4.8% year-on-year, with a load factor of 84.0% (-0.6 PPT compared to May 2024).
North American airlines saw a 1.4% increase in demand from the previous year. Capacity increased by 1.7% year-on-year, with a load factor of 83.8% (-0.3 PPT compared to May 2024).
Middle Eastern airlines saw a 6.2% increase in demand from the previous year. Capacity increased by 6.3% year-on-year, with a load factor of 80.9% (-0.1 PPT compared to May 2024).
Latin American Airlines has seen an increase in demand by 8.8% year-on-year. Capacity rose 11.0% year-on-year. The load factor was 83.6% (-1.7 PPT compared to May 2024).
Africa Airlines saw an increase in demand by 9.5% from the previous year. Capacity increased by 6.2% year-on-year. The load factor was 74.9% (+2.2 PPT compared to May 2024). Africa and Asia is the fastest growing international corridor, expanding 15.9%.
