Air Tanzania plans to introduce a new direct route between Dar es Salaam and Kinshasa, starting on March 26, 2025. Four flights per week are run by the Airbus A220-300. The service aims to improve accessibility between Tanzania's major commercial hub and the Democratic Republic of Congo and to enhance business, trade and tourism links. The expansion of airlines will reduce travel time for business travelers, government officials and tourists exploring both regions, in line with growing demand for direct intra-African connectivity.
The new route is expected to support economic growth by promoting trade between Tanzania, located at the gateway to the Indian Ocean. For sightseeing, the service provides easy access to wildlife destinations such as Tanzania's Serengeti and Kilimanjaro, along with gorilla trekking experiences in DRC's Birunga National Park. As African Airlines continues to expand its routes within the continent, Air Tanzania's movements will coincide with extensive efforts such as the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) to enhance regional mobility and seamless travel across the continent.
