Air New Zealand has been appointed as the new CEO to helm its career through Chief Digital Officer Nikhil Rabishankar.
Ravishankar will take over as CEO on October 20th.
Ravishankar has been a Star Alliance Operator for nearly five years, previously Chief Digital Officer of New Zealand Energy Company Vector and Managing Director of Accenture's New Zealand Unit.
Air New Zealand has said that Ravishankar has a deep understanding of the aviation sector, leading the “great progress” in airline loyalty and digital products.
Therese Walsh, the airline chair, says Rabishankar “brings the mindset and modern leadership we need to build on a strong foundation and focus on the future.”
“His ambitions for the future of the airline and his people's leadership skills, coupled with his excellence, digital literacy, and global outlook and pursuit of relationships, shine through deep care for the airline and New Zealand,” adds Walsh.
Ravishankar's appointment follows a global search for Foran's alternatives, closing off the five-year tenure marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing supply chain challenges after the latter announced his departure in March.
