Air India continues to cut its network due to the effects of safety checks, disruption within the Middle Eastern airspace, and restrictions on night flights in Europe.
Recently, we have reduced the frequency of services operated on the Boeing 787 and 777S, and have started to halt in some cases.
Air India has revealed that it has stopped three narrow body routes and trimming frequencies from the other 19 as well.
However, they point out that these correspond to less than 5% of narrow body networks.
The measure aims to “enhance” its operational stability and minimize inconvenience to practices.
Air India will be suspending Bengaluru Singapore, Pune Singapore and Mumbai Baghdogra Services until July 15th.
Among the routes with frequency reductions is Delhi Mumbai, which flies 165 times a week instead of 176.
India's Ministry of Civil Aviation has said that Air India has “decreased the availability of aircraft” due to the situation. The safety check follows a loss of 787 in the accident in Ahmedabad on June 12th.
“As a result, they temporarily reduce the operation (and) reconstruction,” it adds.
Air India is being urged to “enhance” ground level adjustments at airports and improve communication with passengers regarding cancellations and delays, the DGCA said.
