…Asset financing provided by Access Bank, says

Green Africa, a value airline based in Lagos, Nigeria, announced its acquisition of its first owned aircraft shortly after it stopped flying operations through aircraft lenders' issues.

Incoming aircraft with the ATR 72-500 with the manufacturer's serial number 852 and the registration mark 5N-GAB is expected to begin service immediately after customary regulatory approval.

The airline said Access Bank provided Naira's debt facility to partially fund the aircraft acquisition. The development comes after the airline announced Monday that it must suspend operations via aircraft lenders' issues.

The airline said Monday that flights will remain grounded until after the Eid-Al-Fitr holiday despite efforts to manage the situation and avoid confusion. In a statement to the client, Green Africa expressed inconvenient regret and assures passengers that it is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

“In line with Green Africa's commitment to transparency, I reach out to continue to inform you of the sudden, unexpected developments with aircraft lenders that will prevent you from driving our flights over the next few days.

“We're looking forward to seeing you in the world,” said Babawande Afolabi, founder and CEO of Green Africa.

“This incoming aircraft is crucial as it considerately navigates the next stage of our journey to bring safe, affordable, reliable air travel to the wider group of customers in the region.”

Roosevelt Ogbonna, Managing Director/CEO, Access Bank, commented: “As one of the continent’s largest and largest financial institutions, Access Bank takes special pride in helping young businesses with the potential to redefine industry and act as the main catalyst for positive continental impacts on the local market and on the continent.

“We are impressed by the story of Green Africa and excited about the brand's future trajectory. We are pleased to support the acquisition of Green Africa's first owned aircraft.”

Green Africa opposed the background of Covid-19 and joined the revenue service in 2021. Green Africa has since established a strong presence in the domestic market as one of the most affordable and punctual airlines in the industry.
