Texas DPS employs Davenport Aviation's new aerial counter unmanned aerial vehicle system drone detection system
Davenport Aviation, a supplier of mission-capable aircraft and aviation solutions, has officially launched the Airborne Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (ACUS), the first aircraft mounted counter drone system designed specifically for public safety and law enforcement aviation units.
This cutting-edge technology allows pilots to detect and track rogue drones in surrounding airspaces, and identify drone operators on the ground in real time.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is the country's first agency to procure and deploy ACUS, marking a key milestone in the future of aviation safety and threat mitigation.
“At Davenport, we pride ourselves on understanding our customers' needs and providing cutting-edge cost-effectiveness.
Solution. We are honored that Texas DPS, one of the nation's leading aerial law enforcement agencies, has chosen to integrate its ACUS systems into the aircraft. Their commitment to promoting tactics, techniques and procedures

Drone collisions with aircraft pose serious risks, often ground important missions and put life at risk. In a recent incident in California, a drone attacked a “super scooper” firefighter, reacted to a wildfire and forced it
Emergency aircraft are not working. The drone operator was later charged with violating airspace restrictions.
Acus addresses these challenges directly.

Texas DPS will launch ACU fielding on several rotary wing platforms to increase operational safety during high-stakes missions such as border patrols, disaster response and criminal surveillance.
“We are excited to integrate this cutting-edge aerial drone detection system into law enforcement helicopter operations, which will be a game-changer for situational awareness and public safety,” said Marcus Tomerlin, assistant chief of Texas DPS.
Davenport Aviation is currently in discussion with several other agencies across the United States who are interested in integrating Acus into their aviation programs.
