Stepping into this stunning 15th century Spanish village, you won't think you're just 12 miles away from the capital of Gran Canaria, one of the country's most popular tourist islands.

Boasting cobblestone streets and beautifully carved wooden balconies, the village of Terol offers insight into the traditional everyday life of Canary Island.

As an additional bonus, Teror means that the area has the lowest real estate price per square meter. This has in turn become an increasingly attractive option for anyone looking for a peaceful yet scenic place to escape from.

The municipality located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has a population of 12,799 residents, with an average price of £968 per square meter.

In fact, Terol is so wonderful that it was actually named one of the most beautiful things not only in the entire Atlantic Archipelago but in the entire Spain.

Located in the heart of Gran Canaria, Terol is illustrated by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pine (Cemetery de Nuestra Senhora del Pino), and is a breathtakingly beautiful church dedicated to the patron saints of Gran Canaria.

Traditional homes date back to centuries, featuring exquisite wooden balconies with walls painted in every colour under the sun, adding to the vibrant, dazzling atmosphere of the village.

A symbol of Terol's identity, these balconies are often decorated between celebrations and religious processions.

Among the other must-see landmarks in the village are the Gothic Yellow Tower, the town's coat of arms and the old 18th century Anglican Palace.

Calle Real, the main street in the historic centre, is lined with some of the island's most traditional shops.

According to Idealista, the 4-bed property, which was recently renovated with the latest appliances, can be purchased for £454,430. For those tempted by a DIY project, the other 5-bed properties are available for just £107,410.

Those lucky enough to visit Teror share their visits on Tripadvisor. It's a shame we missed out on a lot of shops, restaurants, cafes and Sunday markets. ”

“Wow, just amazing. What a surprise. A beautiful village on the mountain with great atmosphere, great restaurants and wonderful people,” another wrote. “It looks like you've just been on a movie set.”
