The entire island is on sale at a lower market price than the London flat. Eilean Mor's remote island is located in Lake Sunart on the west coast of Scotland. It boasts a 30-acre plot, a haven for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.
The island has tall green hills and stunning clear waters as far as you can see. The secluded island offers slices of tranquility that scream far more from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
With three Cove Beaches, Eilean Mor is perfect for those who want to go “off-grid” for a while. It's on the market for just £325,000, but the average London flat on RightMove is thought to cost £543,237, according to Luxury Property News.
However, the island is only accessible by boat or low tide Causeway, as it has a location on the map. There are no planning permissions related to the island as it is part of the SUNART site of the Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and SUNART Special Area (SAC).
Life on the island may be very quiet, but the village of Strontian is only a 7-minute drive away. The area also has a variety of walks and mountain climbs, with the Allionle Oakwood National Nature Reserve climbing the road from the village.
The area also has several lodges and a bed and breakfast. Strontian features shops, churches, cafes, elementary and middle schools.
Doctor surgery isn't too far away. Fort William, often considered the “outdoor capital of Britain,” is only 15 miles away.
Listed as offering “fresh opportunities and adventures,” the island has maintained family ownership for generations, making it extremely rare to appear in the market with Bellinggram.
Alien Mo itself was once a mystery focus as it appeared to have been abandoned the station in 1900 by three experienced lighthouse crews. Captain James Harvey had exchanged lighthouse keeper Joseph Moore and led the ship to the island. Moore claimed he had a feeling that he would row over land and walk on the cliffs.
When he arrives at the lighthouse, he discovers the door is unlocked, two of the three coats are missing, and half food in the kitchen. Robert Muirhead, the Northern Lighthouse Committee (NLB), was later sent to the island, but no man was found.
