Inside Cape Town, you'll get a must-see sushi bar as Pullman Cape Town City Centre welcomes Konichiwa.
Konnichiwa, which opened in Pullman Cape Town in March this year, brings relaxed, tasty sushi to the heart of the city. Ideally located on the street level, it's a relaxed place to slip in while exploring Cape Town's gallery, markets and historic streets. A quick meal before sightseeing, a long lunch to soak up the energy of the city, or a quick dinner before heading to Gribriver for the Sundowners. Fresh, laid back, and welcoming to everyone, Konichiwa continues to relax things with its no-saving policy.
A taste of connection in the heart of Cape Town
In Japanese culture, the konichiwa is more than just “hello”. It's about bringing people together in food and sharing moments. That same spirit defines everything with Pullman's latest culinary concepts, from beautifully prepared sushi plates to relaxed environments that promote spontaneous gatherings.

Located just off Brie Street, one of Cape Town's busiest culinary hubs, Konichiwa boasts fantastic outdoor seating that allows you to absorb the city's energy while enjoying fresh, bespoke sushi right in front of you. ”
Konnichiwa brings an exciting new dining concept to Pullman Cape Town, but the signature hotel offering high quality coffee, fresh pastries, light meals and wine remains unchanged. This welcoming corner continues to provide all-day service to both hotel guests and capetonians.
Casual sushi craftsmanship by Chef Ernest Tsusan

Konnichiwa's helm is praised by Shokunin (chef) Ernest Tsusane. This is a chef that spans some of South Africa's most famous Asian restaurants, including Koi and Tang, a favorite of Japan Peru (Cape Town), Johannesburg, Japan. His culinary pedigree also includes the time of Nob Cape Town and Jenkistellenbosch.
“We're very excited to showcase this concept,” says Ernest Chef. “Our menu combines classic favorites such as Sashimi, Nigiri, Rainbow Rolls and Wagyu Aburi. Guests can see us at work from the sushi counter visible from the street.”
Konnichiwa's menu offers a selection of refined Japanese-style dishes, complemented by a full drink offering. The delicate sashimi features langchins like salmon, tuna, shrimp and butter, paired with cleverly crafted nigiri, like Japanese beef. California rolls range from beloved classics to signature rainbow rolls, but maki and crunchy hand rolls highlight fresh, vibrant flavours. For something unique, the new style of sashimi introduces citrus-infused seafood options to enhance depth.
