Summer is here before we know it, and if you still book a warm, sunny getaway, you will know that they are not always cheap. You can really add flights, accommodation and luggage, but not to mention the money you actually need to spend on holidays.
For this reason, you may want to know some of the beautiful places where your money can go the farthest. And there is one great country in Europe named as the best value destination of 2025. Bulgaria, located in the Balkan region of Europe, must be added to your travel bucket list immediately.
Laura Evans Fisk, head of digital and engagement at Eurochange, strongly recommends Bulgaria as a budget-friendly holiday option this year.
She analyzed everything from flight and accommodation prices to three course meals and beer costs, and found that the country is at the top with its rich history and a bustling nightlife.
Here you will find a terracotta tiled rooftop and beach, which are very reminiscent of Croatia, with a much smaller price tag. Laura said: “The midrange, 3-course meal of two drinks costs just £14 each in the coastal town of Burgas, while the sea view room at the stunning Sunny Beach Resort costs just £27 per night.”
The coastal region of Bulgaria is a great place for those who want to explore the sun. Alternatively, you can travel further inland to something like the capital Sofia for a culturally packed trip.
You won't be able to enjoy the views along the Black Sea that you will get when visiting Burgas. A visit to the sea garden is an absolute must. Accessing the beach and strolling along the coastal path, this beach walk is one of the top attractions here, and for good reason.
If you need a snack, there are plenty of cafes and ice cream spots, as well as a board game table for entertainment.
It also has Sunny Beach, a major seaside resort known for its popularity and excellent value. It is Bulgaria's largest and most popular holiday resort, with over 200 hotels.
There are also 130 restaurants and plenty of live music bars, pubs and clubs. So if you're the bustling nightlife you're chasing, Sunny Beach is where you go.
And Sozopol, the oldest city on the Black Sea coast, is also worth a visit. Located on a rocky peninsula and three islands, the scenery is very interesting.
Its history dates back to the 7th century BC, when Greek settlers established the town.
These days it is a popular beach resort with sunny sandy beaches and plenty to see. Famous for its 19th century stone and wooden houses, great hospitality with beautiful summer weather and unique narrow streets, Sozopol is a perfect place for a day trip when you're in Bulgaria.
