However, often overcrowded coasts can be a difficult place to find a quiet place. Luckily there is one place that could make the perfect holiday spot, and it's a place where visitors aren't getting enough.
Shanklin Town on the Isle of Wight is known for its tranquil coastal views and perfect beaches. A quiet place is a great place to enjoy your stay if you're not planning on heading abroad this year.
One person said on TripAdvisor: “Sandy Beach was absolutely clean, the water was lovely, the views were lovely and had a great day. There are plenty of places to get snacks, drinks and treats if needed. Walking along the beach towards the cliffs made the crowds big and thin.
According to Isle of Wight on the Visiting Island, Shanklin has a thriving town centre with many independent shops, restaurants and pubs. It even has its own theatre.
Shanklin is ingrained in history, once home to the romantic British poet John Keats, and also played an important role in World War II.

One of the area's must-see locations is Shanklinchine, a historic canyon. TripAdvisor read: “The stunning wooden lining ranges from Shanklin Old Village to the sandy beaches and Esplanades, and far below.
“Visitors can enjoy the wonders of Shanklin Chine on a daily basis and wonder at the mysterious beauty from dusk, where hundreds of light illuminate narrow paths, streams and waterfalls.”
