When it comes to Sunshine, Barcelona is one of the most overcrowded destinations, but fortunately there is another Spanish city with equally beautiful and far fewer people. ESIM provider Nomad has found “Dupée destinations” that predicts the most overcrowded family vacations for Easter and offers similar views and experiences for those seeking relaxation.
According to a Nomad survey, Barcelona is ranked as the most overcrowded destination with 201,722 tourists per square kilometre. This is not surprising as Barcelona is bursting with unique architecture, beautiful beaches, rich history, a vibrant food scene, world-renowned football culture, vibrant nightlife and fantastic shopping.
But it is also famous for its anti-tourist spirit. The stickers and graffiti, which say “Tourists are coming home,” are common sights around town, with thousands of protests revealing the opinions of locals last summer.
If you want a Spanish holiday with a large crowd and a more welcoming and unexperienced experience, Tarragona is a great choice.
This beautiful seaside city is renowned for its history of Rome, home to the Amphitheatre, and for its history of Rome, home to the archaeological complex of Tarlaco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The quiet beaches, charming old town and rich Catalan culture are perfect for those who are perfect for history, scenic coastal views and less crowds.
It is also located on the “Golden Coast”, which means it has some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Spain. These include Platja Savinosa, Playa Gorda and Playa del Miracle. Del Miracale was a favorite place of famous architect Antoni Gaudi – its main work was the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
Another advantage of Tarragona is that it is generally cheaper than Barcelona. The hotel offers rooms worth £100 per night, compared to those that also cost over £150 outside of Barcelona's main city centre.
If you want to experience both cities, that's easy too. The city is only an hour's drive from Barcelona Airport.
