The new Namibian President of Natumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Indireni Daniel as the country's new Minister of Environment and Tourism. Daniel was appointed as part of a 14-member cabinet announced at the State Capitol in Windhoek on March 22. She will replace Pohahamba Sifeta, who holds a ten-year position and will take on the ministry that will be restructured to focus solely on the environment and tourism, separating forestry from the portfolio.
Following her oath, Daniel has expressed her commitment to strengthening Namibia's tourism sector as a key driver of economic growth. Speaking to the Namibian press, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and sustainable environment to support tourism. She also highlighted the need for strong cooperation with stakeholders to further develop the industry and strengthen its contribution to the national economy.
