The 2025 ERA Regional Aviation Conference in Copenhagen featured an insightful discussion about the future of regional aviation, highlighting the need for innovation and fair regulation.

The 2025 ERA Regional Aviation Conference – the first major event of the year of the European Regional Aviation Association (ERA) – sparked two days of groundbreaking debate, high-level networking and game-changing insights in the vibrant Copenhagen.

Industry leaders, policymakers and aviation experts gathered at the prestigious Copenhagen Marriott Hotel to tackle the future of aviation in the region. The panel discussion brought a bold perspective on the industry's most pressing issues, including the focus on innovation, including the advancement of regional aircraft technology and the disruptive power and digitalization of AI.

The recurring theme is the social and economic values of the sector, with speakers providing an important lifeline that strengthens the important role of local aviation in connecting remote areas and island communities, promoting economic and social prosperity. The need for a balanced policy making that acknowledges the unique challenges of small airlines is a key point of discussion alongside advocacy for fair regulations, and experts emphasize that all regulatory approaches of all sizes do not work for local aviation.

Powerhouse Speakers Martin Gauss, CEO and Chairman of Airbaltic in an engaging session with CEOs of airlines and airport members. Abdul Wahab Tefaha, executive director of the Arab Airlines organization. Daniel Attard, a member of the European Parliament, examined key challenges and transformational opportunities in regional aviation. Another important highlight of the conference was the keynote speech of Eddy Liégeois, Director of Aviation Policy at the European Commission, who provided an attractive analysis of the strategic direction of aviation policy of the European Commission.

Beyond the meeting floor, representatives seized invaluable networking opportunities, including welcome lunches, lively cocktail receptions, and airline and airport CEO breakfasts.

ERA Director Montserrat Barriga recalls the overwhelming success of the event. A shared vision for the future. ”
