While in the UK we have to wait for temperatures to rise enough to make our beach trips enjoyable, but Europe has many destinations that you can escape even if you feel anxious. Just a few hours away by plane, Alicante in Spain is the perfect place for British holiday makers looking to escape the cold season. Located in Costa Blanca, the port city has untouched beaches, incredible food and a vibrant culture. When it comes to booking that ideal vacation, it's everything you're looking for.
With the coastline stretching around 200km, anyone visiting is spoiled for their choice when it comes to the beach. Along the sandy ground there are incredible bathing places with hidden bays, cliffs and ocean colours that take you in. Each beach has a unique meaning that you can visit as much as you like, making it easy to get tired.
The climate in Alicante is warm all year round, meaning you don't need to check out the gorgeous beaches until summer. In March, the city expects temperatures to rise to 18°C. This means you can enjoy warmth without too much.
In addition to its charming beaches and lovely climate, Alicante is a bustling city as there is so much to explore, from golf courses to cultural landmarks. There are many experiences in the land that everyone can enjoy.
The city has many incredible sights that highlight both the heritage and beauty of the city. One of the most notable is Mount Benacantil, 166 meters tall and is the castle of Santa Barbara, dating back to the 9th century.
On TripAdvisor, a visitor described the visit as “one of our holiday highlights.”
They added: “The view from the top was breathtaking and worth the view of the marina and the old town. You can wander around the abandoned and displays for leisure. There is also a cafe and toilet, which is a must-see for visitors to Alicante.”
If you're on an adventure, why don't you have a boat on Tabaraka, famous for its marine reserve?
And it's not a stop for sports on the beach, cycling along the 150-kilometer bike path, or having a picnic in one of the many lush parks and gardens in the city.
