British Airways has issued an urgent message to customers booking flights since September this year.
These vouchers expire in just a few months, causing flights or holidays to be confused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and customers who have accepted the voucher from the airline are facing looming deadlines. British Airways has allowed passengers who were forced to cancel thousands of bookings during the pandemic due to mass travel restrictions and were unable to cancel their bookings in exchange for a voucher that they could spend with the airline at a later date.
Customers who accepted these vouchers initially had to fly by April 30, 2022, but the deadline was pushed back four times later. The last day these vouchers will be used before they expire is September 30, 2025.
It is important to still use your booking to use these vouchers by the end of September, as customers will need to fly and return by the deadline to avoid losing.
British Airways said:
“The voucher will expire on September 30, 2025. You will need to use Evoucher to make a booked trip using a new booking.
British Airways explains that the value of the voucher includes the cost of extras, such as seating, luggage and meal purchases, and customers can apply up to four vouchers per booking.
If the cost of a flight is less than the value of the voucher, British Airways will issue a new voucher that covers the difference, but this new voucher is only valid for travel completed by the deadline of September 30, 2025 – there is no new extension deadline. If the booking exceeds the value of the guarantee, the customer will have to pay the difference.
The airline added: “Evocha is active until it shows its expiration date and must update or replace all flights booked using the Evocha issued following the application.
“If you cancel a reservation created using the evolution you applied, a refund will be issued in accordance with the terms of the carriage and the associated fare rules.
“If you cancel your reservation and a refund is paid, the amount paid for your use of Evocha will be issued under the new Evocha.
