Oman's low-cost carrier, Salamaa has launched direct flights between Muscat and Nairobi, increasing air connectivity between the two countries. The first flight landed at Jomokenyatta International Airport on March 17, 2025, and welcomed officials including Kenya's Transport Secretary, Mohamed Dagar, Kenya's Ambassador to Oman and His Excellency Nasrasalim Mohamed Al Hashmi. This new route marks Salamaa's expansion into East Africa and provides a direct link that is expected to enhance trade, tourism and investment between Oman and Kenya.
Salamair CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns highlighted the strategic importance of Nairobi as a business hub and the gateway to Kenya's tourism sector. The airline is currently the only carrier providing direct flights between Oman and Kenya, reducing travel times and simplifying connections. Officials from Kenya and Omani welcomed the move, citing opportunities for increased cultural exchange and business collaboration. The service will promote two-way tourism, making it easier for Kenya travelers to the Gulf region, while Omani visitors will explore Kenya's famous wildlife and coastal attractions.
