Brussels Airlines will stop its longest route this summer

In December, Brussels Airlines announced changes to the Africa Route Network for the upcoming aviation summer season. The airline has added ample capacity to its existing route network. However, hidden beneath was the carrier's decision to suspend flights between Brussels, Belgium and Luanda, Angola. Aircraft on the route will be deployed elsewhere and further expansion will be facilitated by enhancing the frequencies of existing routes.

    Adeus, Angola

Brussels Airlines' main focus on long-range fronts is Africa. The airline describes itself as an “expert” in terms of flights to Africa and is one of the key players in the European market. Furthermore, its position within the Lufthansa Group and as a result, the transatlantic partnership with Air Canada and United Airlines means that a significant number of passengers from the US and Canada will travel to Africa via Brussels.

The Africa Route Network for Careers is a bit complicated. Many flights operate triangular routing. This also includes Luanda Services, which comes with some of the airline's Kinshasa Flights. For clearer photos, see the map below.

Currently, Brussels Airlines offers five non-stop terminator flights to Kinshasa on the Airbus A330. In addition to these, there are two flights a week with Brussels-Luanda-Kinshasa-Brussels Routing. By suspending Luanda flights, Brussels Airlines will increase the number of terms service frequencies to every day to Kinshasa. Brussels Airlines says that parent company Lufthansa continues to provide flights from the Frankfurt Hub for passengers seeking to fly to Luanda. In a Simple Flying statement, the airline revealed.

Like many passengers traveling to and from sub-Saharan Africa, the majority of passengers fly from Brussels to their final destination. By eliminating intermediate stops, we offer a more attractive product for passengers flying to Kinshasa and Luanda passengers. Both markets have direct flights (not triangles) to the Lufthansa Group Hub (Brussels or Frankfurt, respectively), where or by passengers can connect to their final destination.

In fact, for those flying between Luanda and another European destination, such as Lyon, France, the itinerary with Brussels Airlines is very cumbersome and requires two stops (Luanda – Kinshasa – Brussels – Lion). Luanda to Luanda flights are direct terminator services.

The last flight to Luanda by Brussels Airlines as SN359 will take place on March 25, 2025, departing from Brussels at 10:30 local time.

    Brussels Airlines' longest route

According to aviation analysis company Cirium, the longest route for Brussels Airlines is shown below.

Terminator services are a type of routing in which the aircraft returns to its origin point after the aircraft reaches its destination (such as Bru-JFK-Bru). In other words, the plane doesn't try to avoid going to its second destination before returning to its origin point known as the triangular service.

A brief look at Brussels Airlines' African network reveals Luanda as a clear outlier in terms of distance. With Luanda gone at the end of March, Nairobi (which reopened last year) will become the airline's new long route. になったんです。 English: The first thing you can do is to find the best one to do.

Long-distance flights to the US (i.e. New York-JFK and seasonal Washington Dulles Service) are not that long, but we've created a list of the top 10 as mentioned above. Please note that the above list reflects most of its network, as Brussels Airlines doesn't have that many long-distance destinations.

Over the next few years, Brussels Airlines will receive more Airbus A330s (one new aircraft per year is the current plan), so much of its African services will also become terminators. Due to the lack of aircraft capacity, triangular services mean that they are an efficient and simple solution to serve longer distance destinations.
