All major budget supermarkets with over 350 branches are set to close one of the other busy shops. The closure comes after your boss is told they have decided not to renew the lease on the site.
Dundee's FarmFoods Shop will eventually close on Sunday, April 6th. Founded in 1955, FarmFoods began as an Aberdeen butcher and gradually expanded into a large supermarket chain. The supermarket ultimately focused on frozen foods, groceries, and household essentials.
The closure of the Dundee Store follows the announcement of FarmFoods in March 2023 of the closure of another city centre store in Cowgate.
This means that Lochee will become the only FarmFoods store remaining in Dundee.
A spokesman for FarmFoods said:
“We are grateful to all our customers who have shopped with us on the premises during years of trade.
“The existing stores near Lochee are not affected.”
The mega clearance sale will be held on the last day, with customers redirecting to other farm stores.
Some social media users are heartbroken after learning about the store's closure.
