Namibia's Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is working with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to assess the Nkasa Rupara National Park, which is included in the list of greenery in protected reserves. This list serves as an international benchmark for effective conservation management, with the aim of increasing environmental performance and sustainability. A verification visit by an expert evaluator is scheduled for March 24-25, with stakeholders being invited to provide feedback on park management and conservation efforts.

Located in the Zambezi region, Nkasa Rupara is Namibia's largest wetland conservation area, supporting a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, birches, lions and more than 430 species of bird species. The park plays an important role as a wildlife corridor connecting Botswana, Angola and Zambia. Its potential green list status could further strengthen local conservation initiatives and sustainable tourism. Stakeholders can send input via email until April 10th.
