Everybody abroad is involved in that moment of impatience, waiting for your luggage to go down that conveyor belt.
Baggage billing is an important part of your time at the airport, showing excitement upon arrival and eagerness to return home after a long trip.
But what if you say that doing this with a baggage request could anger other passengers or cause delays?
A recent series of tiktok videos revealed by the package holiday provider Travel Republic has seen an increasing number of videos discussing their biggest “airport cumshots.”
This video shows travelers waiting for luggage billing to be waiting for luggage. Standing “a few inches away” from the carousel, create a wall for people in front of conveyor belts and other passenger bags.
One Tiktok has earned over 56K views, and viewers have gathered in the comments section to share their anger over the habit.
One user wrote, “Yes, this makes me so mad!!!”
One viewer called the habit the airport “Pet Peeve!”
The habit is very harmless, but it can cause delays or even injuries to passengers.
The Travel Republic explains:
One of the main ways that this habit can cause delays while traveling is when passengers stop others from asserting their bags. This is especially true when other travelers are making connecting flights or further transport before they arrive at their destination. Blocking luggage carousels can increase the risk that these travelers will not be able to connect due to delayed luggage, causing a delayed knock-on effect.
Plus, getting too close to the carousel can even hurt you and other passengers. Unprotected luggage and other hold items can fly out of the rotating carousel when moving through the claims of the luggage, so getting too close can result in hits. ”
Experts at Travel Republic have revealed tips on how to properly collect packages from baggage requests.
1. Stand at least 1 meter away from the carousel
It's attractive to stand as close to the carousel as possible so you don't miss your luggage, but airport staff recommends you stay away from the luggage carousel. Many luggage areas have marks on the floor that even indicate where you should stand, but if you are in doubt, standing a meter away from the carousel reduces crowds and allows you to see your luggage.
2. Send one member of your party to wait for your luggage to avoid crowds
Whether you are traveling as a couple or as a large party, it is recommended that only one member of your travel group stand near the carousel. This reduces crowds near your luggage and improves visibility when waiting for your bag.
3. Once you have clearly seen your luggage, step up to the carousel
Only when you see a package appearing in the carousel, come closer to get it. This limits the chances of accidentally delaying other passengers and reduces the chances of injury from unsecured items.
