Türkiye's Flag Carrier plans to expand its flight network and bring a big stand out to Africa following a 2033 strategy that bridges America's Europe
Türkiye's Flag Carrier Turkish Airlines aims to integrate Africa with the world by expanding its already large flight network on the continent.
Since its first flight to Africa in 1956, Turkish Airlines has established 51 destinations in 39 African countries so far. The region's largest flight network expansion is part of the airline's “2033 Strategy” plan.
The airline's journey to Africa began almost 70 years ago in Cairo, Egypt. Turkish Airlines plans to bring great prominence to the global aviation continent through its strategic planning and investment.
Africa is becoming more important than ever with its unique cultural heritage, burgeoning economy and strategic location, but Turkish airlines are acting as a bridge connecting the continent to Europe and the United States.
Airlines are directly contributing to the region's economic development as they support the continent's aviation infrastructure, tourism and trade through various investments.
Turkish Airlines began flights to Banjul, the capital of Gambia, in November 2018. This is an important step in integrating West African countries. Banjul is an important port city in the region and one of the most important trade and tourism centres in the Gambia.
Connecting Banjul through Istanbul to Europe, Asia and the Middle East contributed to the economic activity of the Gambia and accelerated integration efforts with other parts of the world. By expanding trade volumes, the Gambia can develop stronger relationships with Africa and other countries around the world.
The development of Türkiye's diplomatic and economic ties with Africa is further cemented with Turkish Airlines' regional expanded flight network.
With a flag carrier flight to Banjul, the Gambia will become one of the gateways to African worlds, offering great opportunities for the future development of the country.
