The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) has introduced the Business Visa Recommended System (VRS), a new digital platform designed to streamline business visa applications for foreign investors. A system that replaces the previous email-based application processes allows business owners to submit, track and manage applications online, increasing efficiency, transparency and accessibility. Deputy Director Yunus Hussen emphasized that the platform will eliminate incomplete applications, strengthen South Africa's commitment to increasing investment-related data collection and promote a business-friendly environment.
This initiative is consistent with broader efforts to attract international investment and drive economic growth. Simplifying the visa procedure will form part of South Africa's strategy to complement its goal of reaching 15 million tourists by 2030. Along with a relaxed visa system, the launch of a Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS) aims to ease the visa application process for travelers from major markets such as attractive markets in both India and China.
