The Ethiopian airline became the first airline in Africa, welcoming the Airbus A350-1000 to its fleet. The arrival was celebrated at the official ceremony at Addis Ababa Bore International Airport by government officials, diplomats and representatives of Airbus and Thales.

The arrival of the aircraft from Toulouse, France was greeted by a salute of water cannons. In addition to expanding the Ethiopian Airlines' fleet, the delivery includes medical supplies worth more than 100,000 euros, which was donated to the Ethiopian Airlines Foundation by Air Frontiers in a partnership with Airbus.

The A350-1000 treated guests to a demonstration flight showing their capabilities over the Renaissance Dam in Grand Ethiopia. Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, is focusing on advanced aircraft technologies, including improving passenger comfort, improving fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

“This aircraft strengthens Africa's commitment to sustainable aviation,” Tasew said.

The A350-1000 is powered by Thales' Avant Up In Flight Entertainment and HBC+ Connectivity, offering passengers a larger screen, improved seating and a unique landscape camera. Business class passengers benefit from direct aisle access, highlighting the airline's focus on convenience and comfort.

The A350-1000's design with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB Engines incorporates carbon fiber materials and innovative aerodynamics for a quiet and smooth experience on long-distance flights. The new addition is part of Ethiopian Airlines' Vision 2035 plan, aimed at positioning airlines as a global leader in the aviation industry.

Ethiopian airlines are hoping for three more A350-1000 in the coming months, with the latest fleet increasing as they aim to increase passenger service and operational efficiency across their broader route network.
