Spain's most affordable holiday destination in March is a lesser known place where you won't enjoy the abundant hours of sunlight every day. The fortified city located on the coast of North Africa and adjacent to Morocco was its cheapest destination in March 2024, according to the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE). The average hotel cost is 81.94 euros (£68.50) per night.
Known as “The Pearl of the Mediterranean”, this small Spanish enclave lives up to about 85,000 residents and is a melting pot of Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Hindu cultures. Thanks to the microclimate, temperatures never exceed 32C, with an average of 23C in July and August. The city is home to Parador de Ceuta, a state-owned luxury hotel located next to Ceuta's royal walls, surrounded by stunning gardens with palm trees, pools and ocean thrown away.
The royal walls were built primarily to protect the cities. Nearby is the San Felipemuto, which extends over 300 meters of salt water, divides the walled complex and the city of Ceuta into two sections.
Hiding next to the port of Ceuta is Leisure Oasis, a Mediterranean maritime park, a work by the famous architect César Manrique. It features a saltwater pool, lush gardens, top-notch dining facilities and enchanting artwork.
Visitors will be treated to simulacrum on Ceuta's royal wall, including exclusive nightclubs, casinos and dining experiences.
The delighted tourist shared the experience online, with one visitor telling Google:
“We recommend getting an umbrella and mat at the ticket counter first before heading to the assigned area. There are two pizza locations, both outside and inside the park, and at the restaurant,” reports Mirror.
Daytime admission costs a modest €5.50 (£4.60) for adults, but evening visits steal for just 1 euro (£0.84).
Not far from this hideaway, Plaza de Africa infuses history and houses respected landmarks such as the cathedral and the Parliamentary Palace.
The city's heritage is enriched by Arab baths, which date back to the 12th and 13th centuries, for cleanliness and spiritual rituals.
The city has an abundance of hiking trails and ancient fortresses with stunning ocean views.
Playa de choriro and other beaches beckon for those keen on relaxation at the beach.
An exciting visitor in the review said, “It's easily accessible, 850 metres long, 30-width extension, divided by breakwaterers on the south slope of the city, surrounded by moats and one of its walls.”
Travelers should note that the ferry departs from Argecilas to Ceuta with a travel time of approximately an hour.
