Located on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, Latvian capital Riga boasts a high spa to tourist ratio, making it an ideal option for crowds found in other European cities and those who are relaxing without the large price tag. With flights from the UK just 2.5 hours apart, prices start at a return of £138, with Riga balancing quality health experiences and urban tourism.

Ranked number 3 on With Air's Top City list for Spa Break, Riga stands out for its highly valued luxury spa offering. This Baltic gem boasts an astounding 0.8 spa for every 10,000 tourists, allowing visitors to fully indulge without overcrowded treatment rooms or the hassle of inflated ramblings of prices. For example, one of the city's top rated spots, Gallery Park Hotel and Spa offers rooms starting at £194 per night, offering both comfort and tranquility in just a few of what you pay in other major cities.

Beyond the spa, Riga is rich in history and architectural beauty, with highlights such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town, impressive dark-haired houses and beautiful examples of Gothic architecture.

After the spa treatment, tourists can take a walk along the peaceful Daugaba River or visit one of the city's many museums.

The liberty monument to celebrate Latvian independence and the vibrant Riga Central Market, where local produce meets Latvian culture, are just a must-see site.

Travelers who have visited Riga in the past have praised its beauty and laid back atmosphere, highlighting the lack of popular tourism at Rix Stevens' European Forum.

The reviewer under the Badger username states:

“It's not as crowded as Prague, Krakow or Amsterdam. It can be easily combined with Tallinn or Virnius.”

Another user, Valerie, said: “We stayed in Riga for three nights last year. It's a gorgeous city. There are plenty of beautiful parks for art nouveau architecture and walks.

“The Latvian Occupation Museum is very well done if you have one museum.”
