A video of a cat abandoned by the owner at the airport has been word-of-mouth in Tiktok as Tiktok was giving it an astonishing twist of fate.
The cat was reportedly abandoned by the owner of Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon on January 17th. Instead of falling behind with the cat, the owner decided to abandon his pet at the airport and board the plane himself.
Airport workers who witnessed the incident immediately contacted her friend Rana Hamieh, a 30-year-old veterinarian and animal rescuer.
Lana told Newsweek that she headed to the airport to find an abandoned cat at the check-in desk at the ticket counter. The 2-year-old domestic short-haired cat was found “hiding under the escalator railing” at airport gate 2 after being “kicked” by some children, Hamier said.
“He was absolutely terrifying. The poor baby was very scared because of all the fuss around him,” she said. “I was worried because I saw some traumatic injuries in his body, but thankfully there were no serious internal bleeding.”
“He just wants to be safe,” she wrote in the video before showing how the cat lay with everything his owner left him.
The video quickly went viral with over 2.9 million views, and viewers were desperate to find out what happened to the Orange Cat. Lana was able to share that he got a happy ending as he revealed he was placed in a foster home and could be used for adoption.
Lana continued to show the cats calming up along with the rescuer. He was asleep, so he snuggled into his lap, wrapped in a blanket, and gained all the attention and love he deserved.
“I have some important cases in my house so he's now fostering. But!! Kitty is healthy and safe. If you're interested in recruiting, if you're in Lebanon, DM me on Instagram,” she shared in the video caption.
Many pet owners couldn't understand how someone would abandon their pet, so people quickly shared their thoughts for poor cats.
“I'll cry if I see this at the airport. I'll cancel the flight and take care of the cat,” another viewer wrote, “Someone can do it to their pets. I'll abandon one million flights before abandoning the baby.”
“If my cat doesn't board, I won't board. I will never understand how people can abandon their pets. I will die for me,” the third user wrote.
