The US has published a list of countries eligible for the 2025 Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and features several important updates. In particular, the UK is excluded from the general qualifications, but under certain conditions it is eligible.
It does not include African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.
The major update is Romania's addition, reflecting the US government's focus on strengthening diplomatic relations and prioritizing strong border security measures.

Outlined by the US Consular Office, the VWP allows citizens or citizens of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism, business or transportation for up to 90 days without the need for a visa.
Travelers must obtain a valid electronic system for Travel Approval (ESTA) approval prior to their trip and meet all specified criteria. Instead, those who wish can still apply for a visitor visa.
2025 VWP will simplify millions of visa-free entries while bringing changes to travel policies and eligibility requirements, enhancing access to business and tourism.
