According to Book Retreats' 2025 Wellness Cost Index, stunning medieval Granada, Spain's Granada has been named the most affordable European destination for wellness trips. The report explored 19 popular wellness destinations across Europe ranked in Granada, offering a budget-friendly experience that is cheaper, £170 more than Athens and the Canary Islands.

One of its biggest draws is the breathtaking Moorish Palace and the Alhambra, a fortress complex that stands as a testament to Spain's rich Islamic heritage. Intricate architecture, peaceful courtyards and wide views of the city create a serene environment for visitors looking to immerse themselves in history while enjoying a serene escape.

For those looking to relax, Granada offers a traditional Arabic bath known as the Hammam. This offers a resilient experience with a thermal pool, steam room and massage.

One of the city's most famous baths, Hammam al Andalas allows visitors to go back in time and experience ceremonies of relaxation from centuries ago. A UNESCO listed district with winding cobblestone streets and whitewashed homes, the city's Albaicin district offers a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls of the Alhambra and amazing sunset views.

Beyond cultural attractions, Granada is also a gateway to nature. A short drive from the city, the Sierra Nevada Mountains offer opportunities for hiking and reconnecting with the natural world.

Trails of varying difficulty levels lead to breathtaking views and make them the perfect hideaway for outdoor enthusiasts.

A major advantage for UK visitors is the ease of access to Granada, and it is an attractive destination for budget-conscious travelers as flights from London are £40 one-way.

Whether you're strolling through the enchanting courtyards of the Alhambra, engulfing you in the Hammam spa, or hiking in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains, visitors can experience a rejuvenating holiday without spending any spending.

In this study, Granada ranked sixth globally in terms of affordability, further strengthening its reputation as wellness seeker's biggest destination.

Other budget-friendly European wellness destinations include Varna, Bulgaria.

With its stunning scenery, historic charm and invincible affordability, Granada is the perfect hideaway for travelers looking to relax and recharge in 2025 without breaking the bank.
