Spain is one of the famous UK's favorite holiday spots, and thousands of British foreigners have also chosen to make this sunny country their home. However, the continued anti-tourism movement from some of the country's more popular regions have left Britons thinking that there may be better places.
Experts from global moving company John Mason International have revealed three destinations offering similar benefits to Spain, but are becoming more popular among Britons, offering the benefits of relocation. These first are in Panama, with summer temperatures creeping up to 34c in July, allowing Britons to experience the bustle of cities like Barcelona without crowds. Located on the southern tip of Central America, the country is home to over 4.5 million residents, and has been a point of interest in Europe since Spain first created the port in the 1500s.
Simon Hood, executive director of John Mason, says Panama also offers benefits to British citizens who are trying to move forever.
He said: “Relocation has never been easier. Countries seeking inward investments are increasingly becoming residential through incorporation, but without question they have been a huge success in Panama.”
The scheme Simon refers to is a “Friendly National Visa.” One of the simplest residency programs in the world remains open to Britons, and by simply certifying their financial ties with Panama, it is usually $5,000 at a local bank, and will earn permanent residency in a few years.
The second on the list is Mexico, offering a popular route for Britons considering moving.
Since 2018, John Mason has seen a 100% surge in movements from the UK. Part of this is because it's so easy to move there. Simon also highlights a relaxed visa system for permanent stays in the country.
“What you need is $2,000 a month in income or a saving of $35,000 to qualify, and you can bring your documents to the consulate and stay for four years. That's really complicated.”
The third and final popular place where the British flock to is Costa Rica. According to Numbero, some imports can be set a little on you, but transportation, monthly bills, childcare and rent are much cheaper than in the UK. Kindergartens in Costa Rica are one-third of what some parents pay in the UK, and come in at £440 a month, and the weather is certainly much better.
Summer temperatures reach up to 30c, and there are benefits for older Brits who want to retire their place in the sun.
Simon said: A monthly pension of £1,000 can help retirees improve their quality of life much cheaper than in the UK, but working professionals need to double that a bit to qualify. John Mason predicts that these schemes will continue to attract inquiries for years to come. ”
