Wizz Air is launching a new non-stop flight from the UK to popular Saudi cities.
Budget Airlines recently announced that it will begin daily return flights from London Gatwick Airport to Medina.
It is second only to Mecca in religious significance and serves as the main destination for Muslim pilgrims, particularly between Haji and Umrah. Currently, to visit Medina, travelers must fly connected in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia or Istanbul, Turkey.
The entire trip takes up to 11 hours.
Budget airlines will introduce the A321XLR, a new Airbus model that features enhanced fuel capacity and maximum flight times up to 11 hours.
A flight from Gatwick to Medina earns a period of about 7 hours, starting with one-way fares of £233.99.
Tickets can be purchased on the airline's website and on the mobile app.
Wizz Air UK Managing Director Marion Geoffroy said the new route is “an important milestone for the airlines and will continue to expand its network from the UK beyond Europe.”
She added: “We strive to fly as accessible as possible. This new direct route gives thousands of travelers the opportunity to connect with affordable and culturally rich cities.”
Wizz Air operates an extensive network in the Middle East, with nearly 100 routes in the region, including the Abu Dhabi hub.
