Travel fans, people who lived in different countries, and holiday enthusiasts share their thoughts on where the “best” people of the world came from.
Certain UK towns and cities have a reputation for being friendly and welcoming, and this trend usually extends across the country. For example, Canadians are well known for their polite and friendly nature, but Ireland is generally considered a kind and heartfelt destination.
On the popular social media platform Reddit, a curious soul simply posted a question asking, “In which country you visited, are the most wonderful people?”
It quickly flooded with over 3.4,000 replies from experienced travelers and wanderlust enthusiasts who want to share their thoughts. Many countries made the cuts, but one theme was particularly common. There are good people everywhere.
In a very generally divided world, people have struck a chord with good people on Earth and their own experiences, as often fearsome, melancholy, dominated the news cycle.
One declared: “I have traveled to 61 countries, and every country has nice people. People who will help you if you need it, or people who are happy to see their country and learn about their culture. I think it's in your hands that you will come across wonderful people. Give respect to where you are.”
Another agreed: “I've also been to about 60/70 countries, and I agree with you. There are friendly people in every place. I tend to notice more as I interact with more people while traveling.”
And the third added: “In my experience, there have been really good, kind people everywhere I've ever been. As long as you're polite and respectful, people generally return the energy you give.
“I know there's a lot of fear happening right now, but that's a beautiful thing to remember about the world. Most of the time, people are pretty good.”
Other countries praised the kindness
Many countries have made the cuts – suggesting other posters' claims that good everywhere is likely to be true.
Naturally, many Reddit users praised Canada. One said, “I've found that Canadian stereotypes are the most amazing person who is totally true!”
Ireland was also emphasized. One simply said: “Ireland!!!! Much more.” Another agreed: “I came here to say that. When I was in Dublin, I couldn't sleep changing the time, so I went to the hotel pub. Within 10 minutes the whole group was talking to me and we were all sitting around the bar. Great time.”
Countries that may be unexpected for some have also been mentioned. Another Reddit user said, “I had a good experience in America despite my bad reputation.”
Another agreed: “Americans are very friendly and chatty,” someone else said. “Americans are very friendly and chatty, especially when they go outside the city. They all love chatting in the countryside and suburban areas.”
In response, the American commented: “This makes me happy. Despite the s*** we are experiencing now, I am happy to see this.”
Other countries listed include Scotland, South Africa, Madagascar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Finland, Sri Lanka, and Botswana.
