Experts are warning about the upcoming M25 chaos that are set to disrupt drivers' journeys between Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Drivers were spoken about road closures on the highway in March, which appears to affect “one of the busiest stretches” for departures or landers.
As part of the work to improve Junction 10 at Wisley, there are several closures on the entry and exit slip road.
There will also be two highway closures in the Surrey area over the coming months.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead to save themselves from “major” chaos on important highways.
“We're excited to be able to help you get started,” said Alvaro Iturmendi, travel insurance expert at Confused.com.
“So anyone who needs to travel to Gatwick and Heathrow is encouraged to plan ahead.”
The expert added: “Our research found that UK holiday conferences tend to arrive at the airport for 1.5 hours prior to short flights, and only arrive for 3 hours over long distances.
“Drivers have been encouraged to consider alternative routes during this time, so this could mean that these will also be significantly more crowded as a result.
“So finding other means of transportation, such as train services that go directly into the airport terminal, is the best option.”
“However, travelers should allow themselves enough time to go to the airport, as the entire transport network is likely to face significant delays.”
Iturmendi then issued a warning about compensation.
He said: “The confusion has nothing to do with the airline or the airport itself, so compensation is unlikely to be provided to those who miss a flight.
“If you're unsure, a guide to whether travel insurance covers missed flights can be helpful.”
