Indian operator Indigo will eventually wet three more Boeing 787-9s from Nordic Atlantic Airlines, which operates flights from India to Europe.
The three aircraft were delivered to Indigo later in the year, bringing the total number of 787 seconds to four leased.
The announcement will be deployed in the Bangkok sector from March 1st, the day after Indigo discloses the first route plan for the 787 that was first leased, and will be subject to regulatory confirmation. The airline says the delivery of the first leased 787-9 remains “on track.”
Indigo also disclosed the seat configuration of the 787S, adding that it will offer “stretch” business class products on daily flights. The 787 consists of 56 “stretch” seats, and the economy cabin has 282 seats.
Airline Chief Peter Elbers said the additional 787 would “help to make strategic intrusions and establish a brand in the European market.”
Indigo and Norse say they will continue to explore opportunities to expand cooperation and possibilities for contracting more aircraft.
The 787-9 lease is part of Indigo's “internationalization strategy” ahead of next year's long-distance Airbus A321XLRS and the 2027 A350.
