On February 20th, at 7pm, the Loudon Museum in Leesburg, Virginia will hold a virtual presentation entitled “History of History: From Loudon to Montclair: The Great Migration Experience of One Woman.”

Research volunteer Caroline S. O'Connell shares the story of Flossy Sinclair Far, an African-American school teacher who was part of a major migration in the early 20th century.

O'Connell discusses why Sinclair Furr and other African Americans in Loudoun County moved to Montclair during this period. She explores why she chose to go home and the lasting impact their experiences in the North have had on their lives and the lives of others in Loudon.

This presentation will further elaborate on the topics described in the blog post “From Loudon to Montclair: The Great Migration Experience of One Woman,” available on the Montclair History website.

This free zoom event requires you to register to receive virtual links. For more information or registration, please contact the Essex County Department of Culture and History at 973-744-1796 (ext.). 101.
