Top cruising experts have urged tourists to avoid making three mistakes when leaving the ship that could put them at high risk of a holiday turning into a nightmare.
One of the greatest benefits of taking part in a cruise holiday is that you can experience a wide range of different destinations during your trip.
However, in a recent video, travel expert Ilana Schattauer, founder of YouTube Channel Life, often cruised, urging passengers to hide their straps when they leave the ship.
She warned: “When you get off at the cruise call port, don't wear your straps or medallions around your neck. Now, I know this seems pretty obvious, but that's a really bad idea – Go to the harbor streets, especially like you.
“Let's face it. It's obvious that we're not locals, but there's nothing, “cruise travelers who are easier targets than wearing your straps” . ”
Many cruise lines will have them wear straps throughout the journey, as tourists bid to unlock cabin doors and avoid losing the cards needed to board the ship quickly.
Irana warned that it is particularly useful when traveling on board, but that if you wear it on land, there is a high risk of tourists being targeted by scammers.
As a result, it is recommended that you store the straps in a safe place, such as a zip pocket or a bag, when passengers are moving away from the ship.
Similarly, Irana recommended that cruise passengers also leave valuable items such as jewelry in the safety of their cabins, especially if they are visiting areas with a bad history of crime.
She added: “Leave some flashy jewellery on your cruise ship. Now, every cabin has safes, and honestly, these are safe and secure.
“So, put your valuables there. And yet, I'm not going to leave my jewelry on the cruise ship yet, and at least not to bring it to some of those more dangerous cruise ports.”
Finally, cruise experts suggested that before visiting the port before leaving the ship, passengers should always ensure that they know the ship's contact number, which is called in an emergency.
She added:
“How do you get this? Sometimes the cruise ship contact number is actually on the back of the key card – when the cruise line does this, I love it. Otherwise, you You can find this in your daily planner. Take a photo of it, and even on a small screen, just like when you leave the cruise ship, and you have it just in case you Make sure you're there.”
