Ghana is set to introduce 24-hour operations in passport offices and foreign missions as part of President John Dramani Mahama's push for the 24-hour economy. Announcement of the initiative, Foreign Minister Samuel Okdotu Abrakwa highlighted the benefits of extended service hours, including improved passport processing, reduced delays and job creation. He emphasized that a 24-hour passport office will increase service delivery and efficiency and work with the government's broader economic vision.

Ablakwa also outlined plans for the complete digitalization of passport services and the integration of biometric data across government agencies, eliminating duplication and inefficiency. Criticizing the current fragmented system, he called for a unified approach to data collection to save time and resources. The move shows a major shift in modernizing Ghana's management services and strengthening the country's commitment to a more efficient, technology-driven, accessible public sector.
