    SATSA and Fair Trade Tourism collaborate to promote responsible tourism

    SATSA, the voice of inbound tourism, and Fair Trade Tourism (FTT), the symbol of a good holiday, have announced a strategic partnership to promote responsible tourism practices across South Africa.

    The partnership aims to strengthen the competitiveness of South African tourism businesses by providing practical tools and guidance to implement responsible tourism practices that meet the growing international demand for sustainable travel experiences. The purpose is

    Rachel Nkusele, Chair of SATSA’s Responsible Tourism Committee, said: This allows us to provide our members with critical tools to meet the demands of an evolving global market while benefiting local communities. ”

    Lisa Scriven, general manager of Fairtrade Tourism, said: Equally important is promoting tourism that contributes to improving the places we live, work and visit. ”

    Major initiatives include:

    We support FTT's locally developed certification programs in line with international sustainability standards. Bimonthly educational webinars featuring industry leaders who provide practical insights and actionable strategies for incorporating responsible tourism practices into your business operations. A structured opportunity for tourism professionals to connect, share best practices and advance a collective commitment to responsible tourism. The creation of practical and targeted tools and resources specifically designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities of responsible tourism in Southern Africa.

    “Fairtrade Tourism is excited to partner with SATSA and work together to champion responsible tourism and make a lasting impact on our industry,” Scriven concluded.
