The picturesque village of Beaulieu offers visitors a quintessential English countryside experience, with medieval castles, lush landscapes and the delightful sight of free-roaming donkeys and ponies.

Beaulieu's name, pronounced “beau-lee,” comes from the French word meaning “beautiful place,” and the city lives up to its name no matter where you visit.

Located in the heart of Hampshire's New Forest National Park, this village dates back to the 13th century and is best known for historic Beaulieu Abbey, founded by King John in 1204 for Cistercian monks. Masu.

Although much of the monastery was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries, its impressive ruins are still the center of the village and open to visitors.

Next to the abbey is Beaulieu Palace House, an impressive Gothic mansion that has been home to the Montagu family since the 16th century.

Visitors can tour the mansion, admire the art collection, and stroll through the beautiful gardens with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

One of Beaulieu's most attractive features is the sight of donkeys, ponies, and even cows roaming freely through the streets and fields.

These animals are part of the unique ecosystem of the New Forest, where commoners have had the right to graze livestock for centuries.

Visitors are often delighted to see these gentle creatures roaming the village, adding a touch of whimsy to the already peaceful atmosphere.

Beaulieu is also home to the world-famous National Motor Museum, which features a vast collection of classic and historic vehicles, including Formula 1 cars and vintage motorcycles. Families and car enthusiasts alike will find this museum a fascinating destination.

The village hosts a variety of events each season, from classic car shows to medieval reenactments, ensuring there's always something to do. You can also take beautiful walks along the nearby Beaulieu River, where you can enjoy kayaking and bird watching.

Beaulieu is home to a number of quaint tea rooms, country pubs and boutique shops.

Montagu Arms is a historic inn with a Michelin-starred restaurant, serving locally sourced cuisine in an elegant and inviting atmosphere. Visitors can also search for handmade crafts, local produce, and souvenirs in charming village shops.

Whether you're exploring the rich history of Beaulieu Abbey, admiring the grand architecture of Palace House, or simply enjoying the gentle company of free-roaming donkeys, Beaulieu captures the essence of the English countryside.

The combination of natural beauty, heritage and charm makes it a must-see destination for travelers seeking an idyllic retreat.

Plan your visit to Beaulieu and experience the timeless magic of this enchanting English village.
