    South African Tourism appoints Darryl Erasmus as new chief operating officer – Tourism News Africa

    South African Tourism (SA Tourism) is pleased to announce the appointment of Darryl Erasmus as the organization’s new Chief Operating Officer, effective 7 January 2025.

    As Chief Operations Officer, Darryl will be responsible for overseeing South African Tourism's corporate services function, as well as supporting and ensuring the effective operation of internal business units. Additionally, he will be responsible for driving domestic localization and global strategy execution.

    Darryl previously worked as Chief Quality Assurance Officer for the Tourism Ratings Council Business Unit at South African Tourism and brings a wealth of expertise and leadership experience having worked in the hospitality, tourism and corporate communications sectors. Other roles include senior marketing, sales and leadership positions with brands such as Travelport, Protea Hotels and InterContinental Hotels. He also served as Managing Director of BLAZE Integrated Hospitality Marketing Agency, specializing in integrated marketing communications. Most recently, he was a Director at DAX Advisory Services, providing advisory and consulting skills to commercial services in the tourism and hospitality sector.

    “I am delighted to welcome Darryl Erasmus back to South African Tourism as our new Chief Operating Officer. This appointment not only strengthens our management structure, but also improves the competitiveness of our destinations. I have no doubt that his leadership will enhance our operational excellence and global impact.” said Nombulelo Guriwe.

    Mr Erasmus said: “I am excited to rejoin SA Tourism and return to an organization with which I have a deep affinity and personal connection. I would like to thank the CEO and Board for giving me the opportunity to once again serve South Africa and the tourism industry as a whole. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors. We are committed to building a high-performing organization together.

    Darryl’s appointment was approved by South African Tourism in December 2024. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies from Henley Business School. Completed GIBS's Graduate Global Executive Development Program. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Business Management from Oxford Brookes University. I also have qualifications in financial management, training management, manager development, marketing and business management.
