Runway Delta 737 was invasion in Mexico City after an Aeromexico E190 landed during takeoff roll

The Boeing 737 was involved in a close call at Mexico City International Airport earlier this week. This adopted the Embraer 190 regional jet run by Aeromexico Connect in front of the 737 as it began its take-off roll.

Delta has confirmed that 590 flights, 590 flights, 737-800, from Mexico City to Atlanta, departed the gate around local time on July 21st.

“When the flight crew began taking off, they observed another aircraft landing in front of the aircraft on the same runway,” Delta says.

The Aeromexico E190 reportedly has a low overhead of the 737 before landing on the runway.

The Delta 737 pilot stopped takeoff at a slow speed, returned the aircraft to the terminal gate, spoke with Delta safety and flight operation staff before taking off safely at 09:42.

Six crew members and 144 passengers were on the Delta Flight.

The Aeromexico E190 is configured to seat up to 99 passengers, but it is unknown how many flights 1631 from AguaScalientes to Mexico City will be on that day.

Aeromexico has not responded to FlightGlobal's request for comment.

Delta reports the incident to Mexican aviation authorities, the US National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

“There's nothing more important than the safety of our customers and people, so as the situation around this flight is investigated, Delta will work fully with the authorities,” the carrier says. “We are grateful for the flight crew's actions to maintain situational awareness and act promptly, which is part of Delta's extensive training.”
