Hemingways Hospitality, a family-owned, luxurious hospitality and travel group, has announced the acquisition of Richards River Camp, an 18-bed luxury safari camp in Malan North Conservancy, Masai Mara.

Hemingways, a family-run hospitality and travel group, was founded in Kenya in 1988 with Hemingway Watham, the site of its first hotel on the Kenya coast. It then expanded in 2013 with the creation of hospitality brand Hemingways Collection. It owns and operates a 5-star luxury boutique hotel and camp, setting the standard for outstanding service and guest experience in Kenya.

Ross Evans, CEO of Hemingways Hospitality Group, says the group is extremely honored to be able to trust in continuing its heritage of wildlife conservation and community partnership in the Mara ecosystem, pioneered by the founders of Richards Camp, Richard Roberts and Liz Fusco.

“Richard and Liz are pioneers of Mara wildlife conservation, who helped to create community conservation such as Marlanose, and founder partners of key conservation initiatives such as the Mara Elephant Project. The impact is not modest and we have a great understanding of the history and importance of Richard and Liz achieved by Richard and Liz. Camp, we are committed to continuing our positive impact on wildlife, biodiversity conservation and sustainable community development,” Evans said.

Hemingways, an existing member of the award-winning Naboisho Conservancy, is excited to work with more than 1,000 Maasai Community landowners and other tourism operators to become the tourist partner of the iconic Malanose Conservancy to continue to preserve more than 73,000 acres of untouched wilderness. Recently selected as one of the finalists in the Community Upliftment Award category at the ATTA® (African Travel and Tourism Association) Awards 2025, Mara North Conservancy was founded in 2009 and is one of the largest community and private sector-owned reserves in Kenya, ensuring environmental sustainability.

    About Hemingways Group:

The Hemingways Group has been affiliated with Kenya for over 40 years. Hemingways Watamu opened in 1988 and the group has since expanded and invested in travel and tourism in Kenya and East Africa. The group owns and operates Hemingway Collection, Hemingway Travel, Hemingway's Expedition and Hemingway residences.
