Captain Omolulu Majekodunmi, managing director of Value Jets Airlines, highlights plans by Indigenous airlines to close existing gaps in travel connections in Africa.
He said the airline's entry into regional flight operations connecting Gambia's Nigeria and Banju offers travel options for passengers seeking business and trade opportunities.
Speaking about the performance of the Lagos/Banjul flight announced in May, he said the operation is more than a destination as it provides a robust window for passengers to pursue opportunities for trade and cultural exchange.
He said: “It was more than a leisure destination, it was a milestone in local connections.
“The flight from Lagos to Banjul is an important milestone in ValueJet's vision of promoting travel options and connectivity within West Africa. We are proud to help fill the distance and promote close economic ties between people and businesses in Nigeria, Gambia.
He said ValueJet is the only airline that offers direct flights from Lagos to Banjul. Flights run twice weekly and depart Lagos from the new terminal at Murtaramhammad International Airport.
“Since launching the direct Lagos and Banyuru route on May 15, 2025, ValueJet has opened the hidden gems of West Africa to everyday adventurers, wanderers and business-savvy travelers.”
