Turkish Airlines signs a codeshare agreement with Airlink to boost its African presence

Türkiye's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, has signed a comprehensive codeshare agreement with Airlink, a South Africa-based regional airline, to strengthen its presence on the African continent.

Under the new agreement, Turkish Airlines will place a “TK” flight code on Airlink-operated flights, allowing for a smooth connection from Turkish Airlines services to Cape Town and Johannesburg to a wide range of South African and regional destinations.

The strategic collaboration, which will take place on August 1, will significantly expand travel options for guests by integrating Turkish Airlines' global network with Airlink's large domestic and regional routes in South Africa and its region, the airline says.

The partnership allows seamless multi-sector travel with a single ticket, providing more convenience and flexibility for international and regional travelers, says the Turkish airline.

“This collaboration will not only improve strategic growth in Africa, but also provide guests with enhanced options while further strengthening the region's presence,” the airline says.

“As Turkish Airlines, we place importance on this collaboration with Airlink to increase connectivity in South Africa and the region. We aim to improve our partnership to maximize travel opportunities offered to our guests.”

“We believe this partnership will not only benefit both airlines from a commercial standpoint, but will only improve cultural and tourism relations between the two countries,” he says.

The collaboration with Turkish Airlines represents an important opportunity to deepen relationships between the two airlines, says Airlink CEO De Villiers Engelbrecht.

“The agreement is an endorsement of Airlink's brand, but it means more convenient travel options for each customer. It makes it easier to access world-class service and our combined extensive route network destinations,” he says.
