Britons heading to the popular Spanish holiday archipelago of the Canary Islands this weekend are seriously disappointed as the islands are fighting unfavourable weather conditions in hunts for the sun and the ocean. The conditions are so poor that the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is forced to issue yellow and orange weather warnings.
Weather warnings are in place for most of the archipelago on Saturday (July 5) and Sunday (July 6) due to strong winds and dangerous coastal conditions. Authorities are urging residents and tourists to take precautions. Particularly close to exposed coastal areas and highlands. It is recommended to ensure outdoor objects that can be blown away, avoid dangerous maritime activities, and keep them up to date through official channels for warning changes. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura seem to be the only islands to escape the bad weather.
La Gomera
La Gomera is expected to be the most affected island, with an orange warning that will blow the wind from midnight on Saturday until 11:59pm. Gusts can reach 90 km/h (56 mph) especially on the western and east-southeast coasts, with the strongest winds expected until noon, then again overnight. Alert levels will decrease to yellow on Sunday, with gusts of wind up to 80 km/h (50 mph).
In coastal conditions, a yellow warning from the rough seas is active until 11:59pm on Saturday. Winds in North Eastree north of the sea can reach 50-61 km/h (31-38 mph) (force 7), sometimes reaching up to 74 km/h (46 mph) (force 8) offshore. The same warning continues throughout Sunday.
In addition to this, a high temperature warning is also in effect until 6:59pm, with high temperatures up to 34C 40-70% of the time, affecting the midlands and highlands, particularly the south-facing and westward.

It also has a 40-70% chance of temperatures reaching 37°C across the island, affecting the Midlands and Tejeda Basin, particularly in the southern and western parts of the country.
La Palma
La Palma will issue a yellow wind warning until 11:59pm on Saturday, with gusts reaching 90 km/h (56 mph) overnight, with gusts of winds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) especially along the southeastern and northwest coasts. This warning will be updated on Sunday.
